Fortune Cookies Demystified
A friend of mine and I recently took a trip to San Francisco, and while visiting China Town, we found a Fortune Cookie Factory hidden in an alleyway. Have a close look at the photo below and you can see the batter being poored onto the cooking machine, a hot lid then closes, and once the machine goes full circle, you'll see the flat fortune cookies stuck to the lid. The lady sitting there removes a flat cookie, picks up a fortune paper from the table and then folds the cookie in half, then bends the cookie over the steel rod sticking out and then places the completed cookie in a tray. This is done very quickly. WOW. AMAZING.(Last edit, June 26, 2005)
