What's up with Bill & Kelly's Flooded House in Prescott, AZ?
As most of you know, our house flooded in January (all 2,717 sq. ft. of it), and we stayed in a hotel for 40 days. It took over a month to dry the house out, remove all the flooring, and then cut out the affected drywall. We moved into a condo on March 6th and are living with a fraction of our stuff as most of it is in storage. Then we had to cough up $9,975 for mold remediation, which took another month or so to complete. There wasn't much mold and none of it was toxic; however, since Bill and I have allergies, we thought it best to get rid of the mold.
Now the house is ready for repairs and we finally came to an agreement with State Farm last week (they are sooooo cheap!), and so the repairs should begin next week. We are still expecting the house to be ready for us to move back in around July/August timeframe. All in all, the flooring has to be replaced (tile, wood floor, carpet), drywall has to be repaired, the laundry room was gutted as was our master bedroom closet and second master closet. The entire interior must be painted as well. Most of the kickers on the cabinetry has to be replaced too. Most of our furniture survived, however, our oak bedroom set has to be replaced due to water damage. It's a lot of work and I can't wait to get back into the house.
Work has been going well. I seem to be getting a lot of math books (500+ equations), but they pay well. Sometime in the next couple of days I'm going post some photos of the house, so check back soon. I also have the webcam on now, but I'm warning you, my office is a pigsty!
Here are a few photos:
